Here is my original piece of inspiration that jumpstarted my projects in the Writing 220 course. It was a comparative analysis of two readings, "The Beauty Myth," and "My Body, My Weapon, My Shame," arguing that appearance culture and negative body image not only affect both women AND men, but women and men of all ages. The line that really made me choose this piece was, "Girls and women of all ages go to extreme measures to fix what they have diagnosed as "flaws," in hopes of gaining the acceptance of the most judgmental person everyone knows---society." And here is where it all started.
