Draft One:

The Roughest of Cuts

After deciding that my topic I would focus on for the remainder of the semester would be self-esteem in sixth grade students, I had a lot of research on my hands. Sure, I was in sixth grade a mere 8 years ago, but did they still talk, dress, act like I did? Having younger cousins in middle school, I was assured that this was not the case. I found some cool lingo to use in my writing, as well as typical issues middle schoolers face when shifting directly from elementary to middle school. I wrote two narratives, one from a boy's perspective and one from a girl's. At this point I wasn't very happy with only doing two, but after going through it with both Shelley and my blog group friends, I decided to elaborate on my mission of diversity acceptance, and wrote three more narratives in addition to these two. I ended up cutting down these two and including a prompt for reference. You can see these changes in my final product, located here
