About the Author

My name is Nikki Krings and I am a senior at the University of Michigan. I will be graduating in the spring with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education as well as a Minor in Writing.

When I'm not teaching my awesome 5th graders, you can catch me (gently) trying to get myself back into dance, reading poetry, definitely drinking black coffee, or attempting to catch up on the last 3.5 years of no sleep. I suppose you could say I also enjoy writing, specifically personal narratives, poems, and the occasional lesson plan (or 500).

Writing my Capstone project has paralleled with my accident as one of the hardest things I've ever gone through. The psychological hardship of reliving my trauma amidst physically recovering from this accident has made for a tough semester, but I am incredibly proud of what it has become. I truly believe that life is about destination points, and completing this project has brought me to a new place. From a bulleted Google document and barely walking enclosed in a back brace, to a multi-layer story built from reborn strength, I give you ÄŒudnata, the miracle.
